Projects

Building community through collaboration and action.

The team at the Lillooet Community HUB works with organizations, local and regional governments, funders, and residents to bring ideas to life.

Each project reflects our belief that meaningful change starts locally.

Scroll down to explore some of the projects we have led and supported in recent years.

Waste Diversion Education

In 2024 and 2025, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has contracted the HUB to deliver education and outreach services. As part of this contract, youth and coordinators have done community outreach, participated in local events, co-hosted educational workshops, and spoken with hundreds of residents on how to divert more recyclable material from the landfill.

Community Literacy Support

The Lillooet Area Library Association is working with the HUB to create communications for community news that feature all local organizations, promote learning opportunities, update and maintain the Community Calendar, and connect people to literacy learning opportunities. This goes with the HUB’s mandate of connecting people with existing community resources and making information more accessible for all.

Lillooet Entrepreneur Accelerator Program

The Lillooet Entrepreneur Accelerator Program (LEAP) was a mentorship program focused on testing and launching new businesses and social enterprise ideas in the Lillooet area. The program offered a flexible curriculum and 1:1 coaching that was tailored to the specific needs of each participant and the level of business skills they have.

Lillooet Cultural and Tourism Murals

In 2023 and 2024, local artists were engaged to create 2 cultural murals at the back of the HUB building in Russell Lane. Grecia Rodriguez and Oliver Rivas were two artists, originally from Mexico who worked on a design with the 4 summer students in 2023 for the first wall. In 2024, a local Indigenous muralist and artist, Autumn Christopher painted a mural that show-cases 10 key tourism spots in our community. These murals were part of a project to ‘revatilize’ the back alley and create a spot where people could walk to, sit down, and enjoy local art.

Lillooet Jobs

In 2023, the HUB, the Lillooet Area Library Association, and the Lillooet & District Chamber of Commerce collaborated on an advertising project intended to attract skilled workers to local organizations. This involved creating physical and online promotional documents that were dispersed and could easily connect interested people directly with ‘community contacts’.

Love Lillooet

Love Lillooet was an initiative funded by the Northern Development Initiative Trust, and a collaboration between partners such as the District of Lillooet, Lillooet & District Chamber of Commerce, and the HUB. It was created to showcase the uniqueness of local businesses in Northern BC and market online pathways to connect with and support local businesses. The HUB has continued this work in partnership with the Chamber by creating an accessible online space where local makers, food producers, and service providers can be featured on various websites.

Volunteer Connect

The Volunteer Connect initiative was created to help volunteers reach local organizations and existing groups that are in need of support. Volunteer Connect was started with funding from United Way, who hired a community coordinator (Kim North) to facilitate communication and the sharing of resources for community projects.

Resources were developed in partnership with the Lillooet Area Library Association and formed the beginnings of the Lillooet Community HUB project in the year 2020.
