This initiative run by the Lillooet Agriculture and Food Society, highlights local producers and food initiatives, strengthens farm-to-table connections, and supports programs that promote food literacy, sustainability, and community resilience through food security.
“Lillooet Grown’s mission is to connect producers and buyers of healthy, local foods in order to improve the health, economy, and food security of the Lillooet-area.”
Lillooet has long been known for its rich agricultural potential and history of feeding communities, yet in recent decades, much of that production has declined. Since 2015, the Lillooet Agriculture and Food Society has worked steadily toward revitalizing local agriculture through food system planning, program development, and community engagement. Reports such as the Food Hub Cooperative Business Plan (2015) and Market Access and Growth Strategy (MAGS) highlighted the need for a physical hub that would act as a central place to connect growers, producers, and consumers, while supporting skills training, mentorship, and food security.
The vision of a central location and shared space for agriculture and food business support became a reality when the Lillooet Community HUB started in 2020. The Lillooet Agriculture and Food Society was a founding partner, along with Seed to Culture and Lillooet Learning Communities Society.
Today, the Lillooet Grown Market embodies this vision and is run as a social enterprise that provide infrastructure for farmers and food entrepreneurs and connect residents to regionally produced food.
