Finding innovative solutions to community challenges.
The Lillooet Community HUB was founded in 2020 after a series of community dialogue sessions that highlighted the need for stronger collaboration to change systems across the Lillooet area and Northern St’at’imc Territory.
Originally named the ‘Lillooet Community Connect Innovation HUB’, the vision was clear: all sectors needed to work together across organization divides to co-create solutions that improved the lives of community members.
Lillooet Learning Communities Society (Lillooet Learns), whose founding mandate is to encourage collaboration among communities and partners, was chosen to host this initiative.
These directions grew into five strategic priorites to guide HUB operations.
People connecting across sectors to bring dreams and ideas into action together
A connected, caring, healthy and vibrant community
Inclusivity, empowerment, diversity, resourcefulness and creativity
Our logo, designed by artist Daryn Scotchman of the Sekw’el’was community, with an elder, reflects that vision — people joining forces to steward dreams and ideas into reality.
The circle of people from different backgrounds is shown inside the dreamcatcher which represents dreams and ideas, with the outer ring reprsenting a cog in a wheel that puts ideas into action. The St’at’imc words Sul’lus | Nwa7tena means communities together.
It’s a reminder that the HUB belongs to everyone who walks through its doors.
Daryn sells her art in the HUB store and also sits on the Board of Directors of the Lillooet Learns (the nonpropfit that operates the HUB)
The HUB is a shared effort between communities, nonprofits, businesses, and local governments. It is a safe and welcoming space for all, working across sectors to support justice, culture, arts, economic development, lifelong learning, and community wellbeing.
Like many grassroots achievements, the HUB was built through the dedication of local volunteers, organizations, and community champions who invested countless hours into bringing this vision to life.
